Joanne Chapman is undertaking a double charity challenge on behalf of the Jersey Women's Refuge and is aiming to raise somewhere in the region of £1,500. All costs have been covered, so 100% of the funds raised will be donated to the Refuge.
The first event takes place in early September 2010 and involves a group of 6 friends walking a collective 500 miles through the Yosemite National Park in California and Nevada. This is a strenuous challenge at high altitude, carrying camping equipment and provisions, whilst keeping a wary eye out for bears (and I don't mean Yogi Bear and Boo Boo!!).

Assuming I survive the bears and arrive home in one piece, the second challenge takes place in early October 2010. This involves cycling from London to Brussels via Kent and France before crossing the border into Belgium. The total distance cycled is approximately 320km, although I suspect my backside might feel it has gone much further.

The Jersey Women's Refuge is a much needed and very worthy cause which runs its facilities on charitable donations. So please dig deep and donate generously as I'm going to find both of these events extremely challenging.

Many thanks
Joanne
