The Virgin London Marathon is taking place on Sunday 25th April 2010 throughout the spectator-lined streets of London.  A local school teacher has chosen to take on the challenge of completing the event in aid of the Jersey Women's Refuge.
 
Over £400 million has been raised for charities by London Marathon Fun Runners since the race began in 1981 and the Jersey Women's Refuge are pleased to be able to be part of this in 2010. The event has grown in size, stature and popularity over the past 29 years and is now well established as one of the world's major sporting events.  It is shown on television in over 150 countries around the world so be sure to look out for our Jodi in her purple Refuge gear raising much-needed funds for our much-needed local agency!
 
Jodi is a teacher at Les Quennevais School. She has previously completed 5 half marathons locally as well as being part of the second place ladies team in the 2009 Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon relay team. Jodi trains regularly at Fitness First who are also offering her their support by placing collection buckets around the gym and encouraging their clients to show their support by donating to the cause.

Being a teacher, Jodi has also rallied the support of her year 7 students and colleagues who together have already held a car boot sale which raised over £300 for the Refuge and they have numerous other events planned in the coming months so a big thank you to Les Quennevais School.

Jodi has said that she is not aiming for a particular finishing time for the event but 'is just keen to finish and raise as much money as possible for the Jersey Women's Refuge'.
