Job Title: Volunteer
Hours: By arrangement
Purpose of the job: Support Victims of Domestic Violence.
Principle responsibilities:
Create a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Raise resident awareness of House Rules/Security/Fire Drill/Safety.
Give practical advice and support.
Liaise with various agencies.
Update and maintain records on a regular basis.
Promote personal and domestic hygiene.
To maintain a responsible, calm and caring attitude in difficult situations.
Have the ability to make decisions concerning the smooth running of the house and welfare of residents.
To assist clients with obtaining relevant information and liaise with other organisations and agencies in this respect.
To keep abreast of current legislation in order to provide accurate information.
To perform practical tasks as and when required.
Be willing to attend a training day workshop about the dynamics and effects of domestic violence.
We operate a 24 hour service so volunteers are required at various times during the day, evening, night duties and weekends depending on your availability.
Volunteers are required to be reliable and abide by strict confidentiality policies. A police check is also required to be undertaken; for this you would need to provide two forms of ID to include photographic ID & proof of address and the fee which is £20. 00. References will also be taken up.
