WE ARE HERE TO HELP

We are working together towards making our Island free from domestic abuse

FREEDA’s Mission is to protect and empower women and children who have experienced domestic abuse, so they can take control of their lives, enabling them to live free from fear, as well as to engage with and support our Island community to prevent such abuse.

FREEDA was formerly known as Jersey Women’s Refuge.

Do you need help now?

At FREEDA we are dedicated and passionate about our mission to support you and prevent domestic abuse. Our skilled and professional team is always on hand to listen while pro-actively seeking solutions to ensure your safety, designing support plans around your individual needs and wishes.

Our inclusive and accessible person-centred services are delivered in a confidential, non-judgemental, kind and respectful manner. All our services are free of charge and we will not turn anyone escaping domestic abuse away due to financial constraints, housing or nationality.

Our safe home can help you and your children (girls and boys up to 18) for up to 6 months if you are fleeing from domestic abuse. Our trained staff are there to give you emotional and practical support. FREEDA's professional volunteers offer financial and legal guidance for both you and our clients living in the community.

FREEDA’s vision to eliminate domestic abuse within the community starts with the premise that women and men need to work together, and that it must become a shared vision of our Island community.

FREEDA in the community undertakes preventative domestic abuse training in Island schools, professional settings, with partners and other organisations.

FREEDA also holds specialist awareness events on White Ribbon Day and International Women’s Day to shine the spotlight on the way islanders can work together to eliminate domestic abuse.
